Close to Picasso, he discovered the artists of Cubism, Dadaism and the avant-garde upon his arrival in Paris. Nevertheless, he developed his own expressiveness in a creative impulse that brought him to the side of the Surrealists, whose Manifesto he signed in 1924. Mirò's paintings are eminently poetic and often use symbols such as stars, birds, or female figures, all colored with blue, a color that will become characteristic of his paintings.
