"Salgado Amazônia" at the Philharmonie de Paris

Immersion in an extraordinary nature

Take advantage of your ticket for a photographic journey into the work of Sebastião Salgado in the heart of the Amazonian forest. Presenting more than 200 photographs and huge projections, the exhibition highlights the fragility of this ecosystem. Accompanied by a sound creation imagined by Jean-Michel Jarre, from sounds collected in the forest, the exhibition restores the voice and testimony of the Amerindian communities.

To know

Photographing the most remote regions of the planet to bear witness to their majestic beauty, the photographer undertook a series of trips to capture the incredible natural diversity of the Brazilian Amazon forest and the ways of life of its peoples. He spent several weeks in these villages, photographing ten ethnic groups. From small boats or from the air, Salgado creates images that reveal the complex labyrinth of winding tributaries that feed the river, the mountains that sometimes reach up to 3,000 meters, and the waterlogged skies that create veritable celestial rivers. The exhibition that you will discover highlights the richness of the Amazonian sound universe. Through the strength of the images, Sebastião hopes to stimulate thought and action in favor of the preservation of this invaluable heritage of humanity.

A mineral building integrated into the Parc de la Villette, the Philharmonie offers innovative forms. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the Philharmonie is a living space for music, offering resident and guest orchestras optimal working conditions and numerous spaces for educational activities designed to open the doors of music to as many people as possible.
