Private visit "Uderzo, like a magic potion

Exhibition at the Maillol Museum

The Maillol Museum, which has already honored great names in the history of art such as Francis Bacon, Klimt and Frida Kahlo, is now hosting the first major exhibition devoted to the work of Albert Uderzo, a little over a year after his death. Discover "Uderzo, like a magic potion" in a privileged way during a private visit that will immerse you in the immensity of his work.

To know

In this unique exhibition, conceived and designed by the Uderzo family and a team of specialists from the museum world, you will discover the incredible volume of his characters, his plates and his drawings. Asterix necessarily has a special place in the exhibition. Through some three hundred original works and personal documents, many of which are presented to the public for the very first time, the exhibition will allow you to measure the diversity of the graphic styles of the man who dreamed, as a child, of being the French Walt Disney. From the working-class neighborhood of the Bastille in the 1930s to the almost worldwide recognition of his work with his friend and accomplice René Goscinny, the chronological tour offered by the Maillol Museum reveals all the facets of the artist.

Convent, apartment building, artist's studio, cabaret, the Museum had several lives before becoming an exhibition space. Dina Vierny, model and collaborator of Aristide Maillol, managed to buy the entire building, which after 15 years of renovation work will be inaugurated as the Maillol Museum in 1995 by François Mitterrand.
