CultureSecrets invites you to an extra-ordinary stroll to discover emblematic smells. A journey specially designed to awaken your olfactory sense: a poetic Japanese florist, the church of Saint-Sulpice, or the Conservatoire des Hémisphères. After this period of pandemic, our sense of smell has been shaken, even completely extinguished. In a desire to rediscover your memory, Diane Thalheimer has imagined an olfactory journey, mixing contemporary art, history and everyday smells.

To know

At the start of this unique walk, the Avant-Scène gallery, place de l'Odéon, to discover the first works of olfactory art by several internationally renowned contemporary artists (Joanas Vasconcelos, Pablo Reinoso, Hubert Le Gall,...). Each sculpture was created to illustrate the olfactory identity of the artist, revealing an additional dimension of the artist (unique pieces or limited series). The walk then makes a stop at the church of Saint Sulpice to rediscover the symbolic smell of incense, then at the Japanese florist Aoyama. Putting words to unique smells, working on one's memory and emotions, or how to express this most instinctive and yet least educated of our senses?
