Take advantage of a private visit to admire the works of Léon Bonvin! An artist who is now rare and much sought after by the greatest museums and the most discerning amateurs... Forty years after the only retrospective devoted to him across the Atlantic, the Fondation Custodia is organizing this important exhibition dedicated to Léon Bonvin, which will open in October.
While the catalog seeks to be exhaustive, a selection of nearly seventy works by Léon Bonvin has been made for the exhibition. Nearly half of this selection comes from the important collection of the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, established during the artist's lifetime by the American collector William Walters (1820-1894). Many other works will also make the trip from the United States, where Léon Bonvin remains very popular. Closer to home, the Musée d'Orsay also has an important group of thirteen drawings by Bonvin, in addition to the six sheets by Bonvin kept at the Fondation Custodia. Private collectors have also proven their generosity by granting numerous loans on this occasion.
