CultureSecrets invites you to a private tour of the new series by the famous photographer Erwin Olaf. Dance in Close-Up is a tribute to choreographer Han van Manen, and celebrates both the 40-year friendship of the two artists and Van Manen's important contribution to the world of ballet.

To know

Hans van Manen and Erwin Olaf met in 1983 in Amsterdam during a photo shoot at the dancer's home. At that time, Hans van Manen was already a well-known choreographer and photographer. He introduced Erwin Olaf to many artists of the Dutch scene and introduced him to classical music and fine arts. Together they selected specific moments from Hans van Manen's iconic choreographies and captured details. Olaf gives us a glimpse of body fragments, arched backs, contracted muscles, bent toes...
