Discover the new exhibition of the École des Arts Joailliers during a scintillating private visit... "Ors et Trésors, 3000 ans d'ornements chinois" is an exhibition that illustrates more than three thousand years of goldsmithing in China, through a selection of masterpieces from the extraordinary Mengdiexuan collection.
The exhibition is organized around three main themes. It offers an introduction to the scientific and gemological aspects of the material and properties of gold. Thanks to the showcases composed of nuggets, crystals and old jewelry, the exhibition explores these different aspects. The exhibition then focuses on the know-how of the craftsmen, with several major techniques: hammering, chasing, casting, granulation, filigree, inlaying and gilding. Finally, the exhibition highlights the symbols: Chinese art presents a varied iconography, symbolizing happiness, longevity, rank, prosperity or, more generally, good omens. The ornaments of the Mengdiexuan collection offer us a glimpse of this symbolic wealth.
