Do you know the glorious Gayatri Devi? Free and visionary princess, discover her extraordinary journey and her fights for the emancipation of Indian women. Following the publication of La Princesse Insoumise, CultureSecrets invites you to exchange with the famous biographer Jean-Noël Liaut who tells the singular destiny of this courageous woman.
In order to write La Princesse insoumise, Jean-Noël Liaut investigated for years in India and Europe, finding the relatives of his heroine, who speak for the first time in the book. Gayatri Devi, a true feminist before her time, fought to revolutionize the lives of women in Rajasthan and contribute to their emancipation. She was one of the first not to accept the harsh law of Indian patriarchy that required women to remain invisible and veiled. In 1943, Gayatri Devi created the first school for girls in Rajasthan, despite the criticism of many detractors who accused her of breaking with the established order.
Jean-Noël Liaut is the author of some fifteen books, most of them biographical: Andy Warhol,
