#ART Before the museum opens, enjoy a private tour of the retrospective devoted to the famous artist Nicolas de Staël, the new exhibition-event at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris. The exhibition brings together a selection of around 200 paintings, drawings, prints and notebooks. Some fifty works are being shown exclusively in a French museum.
Organised chronologically, the exhibition traces the artist's successive evolutions, from his first figurative steps and his dark canvases of the 1940s, to the paintings he produced on the eve of his untimely death in 1955. Twenty years after the exhibition organised by the Centre Pompidou in 2003, this exhibition takes a fresh look at the artist's work, drawing on more recent thematic exhibitions that have shed light on certain little-known aspects of his career.
