Chagall politique", on view from October 7, 2023 to January 7, 2024. Over the course of a life marked by two wars and one exile, Marc Chagall (1887-1985) created a body of work firmly rooted in the history of the 20th century. A figure of displacement and migration, like many others in his work, the artist criss-crossed the world in the wake of the century's turmoil, from his childhood in Russia to France, Germany, the United States and Mexico, before settling in the Mediterranean...  

Chagall's art, imbued with a profound humanism, nourished by his Jewish roots and by listening to the cultures he encountered and the experiences he lived through, is the messenger of an unwavering commitment to man and his rights, to equality and tolerance between beings. This spectacular exhibition presents the artist's work in the light of the historical events he witnessed and participated in, and thus constitutes the first comprehensive reading of his work from the standpoint of position-taking and commitment.
