A private tour of the "diary" of English painter Issy Wood

An evening at Lafayette Anticipations

#ART Take a private CultureSecrets tour of the first solo exhibition in France devoted to English painter Issy Wood at Lafayette Anticipations. Over 60 paintings, most of them previously unseen, will be presented. Borrowing its title from a 2019 painting, "Study For No" unfolds around notions of refusal and resistance, explored through the artist's obsession with intimacy, interiority, care, desire, femininity, relationships and identity.

To know

Born in 1993, Issy Wood graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in London in 2018works in London. Inspired by a collection of objects donated by her maternal grandmother, as well as auction catalogs, the English artist produces pictorial and literary works, as well as installations cultivating a universe of classical style mixed with cynical humor, in which the female body is abused. The exhibition Study For No is a perspective on how a refusal is heard or ignored, but also, in the artist's words, a call to "the possibility of learning the power of using the word 'no'".
